  • New plates for Nunavut were issued shortly after the separation on April 1, 1999.  The earliest dated Nunavut plate would have been 1999, an expiry date later on in the year.
  • These plates are copies of the current NWT plate design.  It is suspected a new design will be issued some time in the future.
  • These plates use the current NWT year and month stickers.
Numbering Systems
  •  5 digits, followed by N, starting at 10001N.
Non-passenger types
C Commercial
D Dealer
G Government
P Public Service

T Trailer
  • All non-passenger types which exist in NWT are mirrored here.  The only difference in the numbering is the 'N' suffix on all plates.
  • HAM Radio plates exist with call signs starting with VY0
