(in memory of Jeff Berman, ALPCA #337)

Where:Carleton Heights Community Centre, 1665 Apeldoorn Av, Ottawa. New location TBA
Held: Saturday May 13, 2000. 8am to 2pm.
Hosts: Joe "Tiger" Sallmen (ALPCA #7100) and Robert Berman (#337A).
Well, our first meet was a successful one.  26 people signed in, including the hosts, proving there was a pent-up demand for a meet in the Ottawa valley area after all.  Most came from Ontario, however we had about 5 come from Quebec.  There were even attendees from Ohio and Pennsylvania.  The doors opened at 8:00am, and trading was underway.  Our social gathering lasted a good 5 hours before it was time to wrap things up.
We had a voluntary donation which only brought in roughly half the cost of the hall.  Luckily Ernie Wilson (#361) who wasn't able to make it, sent a lot of plates as a contribution to help cover our costs.  Instead of holding a donation auction (there wasn't quite enough attendees for that) we listed on eBay to pay for the hall.
Our meeting hall at the Carleton Heights Community Center was too small for our needs.  There was generous space outside, but with the threat of rain, we kept our entire show indoors.  The following year we held the meeting in a much larger venue, the gymnasium at Laurentian H.S.  But as Murphy's Law would have it, there was actually a drop off in attendance.
Here are some photos of the meet for your enjoyment.
Displays
