If you meet Bruce Lobay at an ALPCA convention, there's a good chance he'll be sporting his "#1 Apron".  This features the design of each first issue plate from every state and province, all with #1.  Notice his funny hat: made of Manitoba license plates!  He is shown holding a bogus plate made out of a dishpan.  Toronto was not licensing horseless carriages in 1898.  Cute idea, though.
