ALPCA Convention Souvenir plates
![]()
The ALPCA souvenir plates are made to simulate an actual plate from the state where the convention is held. This year's plate featured a graphic of the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, quite an eye-appealling plate. For the first year, motorcycle plates (miniature versions of the souvenir plate) were manufactured and sold. The plates are sold to the general membership for something like $12 each, however the special numbers (such as 1 to 10, and all repeating digit numbers like 77 and 333) are sold during the auction. These will fetch higher prices, and the most expensive one, usually is, you guessed it, #1, which usually sells for over $200.
Why has our President, Dick Yourga, crumpled one of these plates up? It was an additional #1 souvenir plate made in error (normally one one of each number is made). To ensure the uniqueness of #1, he destroyed the duplicate in front of the general membership so that we could witness the event.
