Ford Brewington Estate Auction (25,000+ plates)
Delmar Convention Center, Mar 7-8, 2003
A "no holds barred" commentary - Preview | The Auction | Heading Home | Epilogue
Okay, the auction is over, finis, so it's time to make the long 300 mile drive home, only I was in no shape to drive that kind of distance after a long day, so decided to add another day to my travels.  Why not make a side trip to see Ocean City?

The next day, I decided to take the back roads of Southern Delaware and head to Ocean City.  It certainly was a nice day to do it, sunny and warm, couldn't have asked for better.  As I was approaching Ocean City along the coast, I was disappointed at first.  Nothing but one long strip of condos, hotels and resorts obscuring the view of the beach.  Eventually I got to the city itself and parked the car to have a nice walk along the boardwalk.  No problem finding parking at this time of year.  It was practically deserted, the way I like it.  Some pretty interesting sights to see.
Ocean Gallery

As you can see, one of the strangest buildings I have ever seen.  No license plates glued on the outside - I already checked.
Perhaps I could offer some junky ones I bought to add to their decor, LOL!

Gives new meaning to the term "Woody".  Not a running car of course.

This strange "Batmobile", a collage of junk, was actually registered with a current license plate.  Can you imagine this going down the street?!

At the boardwalk parking lot, I whipped out the camera to grab some nice shots of plates on vehicles.  These can be see at the Plateshack's Y2K site, if you have the time to dig (hint:  Look under Maryland and Delaware).

After arriving safely home the Sunday evening, I got busy with my thoughts on how this auction should have been handled.  Why not read my opinions in the Epilogue?
