Up until 1997 when Nova Scotia went to a single plate, plates were issued in pairs with stickers on the front and rear.

These plates were in use until 1986. A smaller version of the sticker was specially issued because of the smaller sticker boxes. The colors are shown below. Having two series of stickers was rather inconvenient. This, and the fact that these plates were quickly becoming worn out and faded led to their retirement. |
